Trishna and Krishna

Did anyone else see the documentary on channel 7 last night about these two little girls?

I had heard of them and read reports about their separation back in November but I hadn't realised just what these two little mites went through before the final operation.

I thought it was a terrific documentary and told the story beautifully - it brought a tear to my eye a couple of times.

Hi Pink,

I read an article about these little girls a few weeks back in Woman's Day and it was sad about the parents having to give up their girls to get treatment over here and happy that they were able to be separated successfully.

What I don't understand is why can't they be returned now to their parents. The parents surely are able to look after them now and wouldn't it be better for the girls to be with their natural birth parents. The only reason they were separated from them in the first place is because of their being conjoined.

I think they are looking to be adopted over here. Return them to their parents I say and the parents should be willing to have them back.

Wendy :)

Wendy, I very rarely read Woman's Day or New Idea as I don't think the reporting is too crash hot, good entertainment though. I remember reading about Mimi McPherson when she was living in the bay - I think it was in the New Idea. There were photos of her in her apartment surrounded by all her local art which it said she vigorously supported. I know for a fact that the main painting in the photo did not belong to her because I know the artist who told me she lent the picture for the photo shoot.

In the documentary it said the parents put the little girls in an orphanage because they couldn't look after them. A young Australian social worker found them and it was her who worked to get the girls sent here through the Children First Foundation. The little mites went through quite a few operations before the major one last November when they were separated and they have quite a few more to go through in the future. It didn't say anything about them being adopted here in the future and I've no idea if they will eventually be returned to their parents.

I must admit (me being a tad cynical) who paid for all that surgery when our health system is in such a mess.
